SSC Past Events

We host a variety of engaging events at The Sunshine Social Club, ranging from educational workshops and skill-building activities to social gatherings and community outings. These events are designed to foster independence, build confidence, and create lasting friendships among our members. By providing a welcoming and inclusive environment, we empower young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to connect with others and embrace new experiences.

Friday, November 21, was extra special — we welcomed our very first community member to host a class! A huge thank-you to Carrie from The Castle Family Band, a Minneapolis favorite from back in the day, for bringing the beat to our space. Our participants had an absolute blast learning rhythms, trying out the drums, and making some joyful noise together. The room was full of energy, smiles, and lots of creativity!


We’re so grateful for this amazing experience — and we’d love to have more community members come share their passions with us. If you or someone you know would like to host a class, workshop, or activity, let’s connect!

Halloween Party with Helga Broomstick!

Helga Broomstick—also known as Katie from The Toy Corner—hosted a spooktacular Halloween celebration packed with exciting experiments, fun games, creative crafts, tasty treats, and plenty of laughter! We’re so grateful to Helga and her wonderful helpers for sharing their time, creativity, and resources with our SSC friends.

Bowling Bash – August  15, 2025

Quintin, a wise 12 year old boy, captured the Bowling Bash perfectly. “Today made me smile.” Thank you Speiker & Company, Ltd for hosting The Sunshine Social Club at Shakopee Bowl. We are so grateful for these impactful community connections!

3rd Annual Beer Bust – January 2026

We’re so grateful for the incredible generosity shown by the businesses, families, and friends who donated to our 3rd Annual Sunshine Social Club Beer Bust. Your support didn’t just fill raffle baskets – it’s fueling opportunities, joy, and a sense of belonging for the young adults we serve at SSC.

Because of you, we’re able to continue creating inclusive social experiences, building confidence, and strengthening community connections. Your kindness makes a real difference, and we’re honored to have you as partners in this mission.

2nd Annual Sunshine Swing – July 18, 2025

We are so grateful for the 128 golfers, 20 generous hole sponsors, and the wonderful group who joined us for social hour. Thanks to your support and enthusiasm, we raised over $20,000! This helps us build a future where everyone is seen, valued, and celebrated. Thank you for making this day not only successful, but truly special.
